Conducting a good research ensures that the article, thesis or propositions you make are accurate and are supported by facts and not theories. A research is a pre-requisite of a good thesis.

The fact is, 70 percent of the time people are researching for new things that they do not know. The human mind thirsts for knowledge. Therefore, it is a must that good and reliable information is provided for the curious mind. Else, what the mind perceives is all wrong.

So, how can one conduct a good research?

There are several ways of attaining the facts through research. Here are some of the factors you have to consider;

1. Know what your topic is all about. It is very important that you know and understand the topic you want to write about. By this, you will be able to set boundaries how far your thesis or topic can go. Moreover, you will know where to start your research and where to end it. There is no better way to master your topic than knowing what your topic is all about.

2. Read, read and read. The first part of your research should be spent reading relevant information on your topic. Nowadays, there are a lot of sources you can utilize. You may want to go to a public library and read research books or your can browse the internet and search for the information you may need for your topic. Reading is the core of research and there is no shortcut to it; it is either you start reading or forget about your research.

3. Comprehend what you've read. You should know that reading is futile unless you learn how to comprehend or understand what you are reading. Reading without understanding is like eating without digesting. If that's the case, then you will just be wasting your time reading. By understanding what you are reading, you will be able to pick relevant information you need to include in your research, and this is very important because not everything you read will be helpful.

4. Focus on your topic. It is inevitable that you will encounter information which is irrelevant to your topic. As much as you want to integrate them into your thesis, you can't simply because they are off topic. Do not lose your core topic if you want your thesis to be credible enough.

5. Write, write and write. Writing is also very important because it is where you can show or express the idea you've read. Let the idea flow smoothly from your head and pour your feelings into it. Include all the ideas which you think you need to support your proposition.

6. Review. This is not the final part but it is very essential because it is where you have to eliminate the information you have written which is less relevant to your topic. Furthermore, you can proofread; check your grammar and spelling. In order to boost the credibility of your thesis, it must contain very minimal grammatical errors.
